Florida Weather & Our Outdoor Events
Weather Policy: Our first concern is, of course, the safety of everyone participating.
Event organizers may make the following decisions in the event of foul weather:
Delays to the Event
The event may be delayed for up to 90 minutes if weather is severe or threatens to be severe during the 90 minutes delay time, but is expected to improve during that time. I.E. if it’s going to be a quick storm, take cover and wait it out.
Canceling the Event
The event may be canceled on the day of the event if:
- Severe weather is forecasted to continue beyond 90 minutes from the scheduled opening rally start time
- During or after a 90-minute delay, more severe weather is imminent
The event may be canceled the day before if:
- Severe weather is forecasted for the day of the event. I.E. no tropical storms or hurricanes!
- Charlotte Sports Park is deemed unsafe due to the effects of severe weather
- Check this website and our Facebook page for weather messages
- We will attempt to contact everyone by email
- Sadly, a canceled event cannot be re-scheduled.
- All registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
If It’s Not Clear, Sunny & Warm…
If the SW Florida Run/Walk does proceed on a less than perfect day, please dress accordingly. All participants travel to the event and participate at their own risk.
