The SW Florida Lung Cancer 5K Run/Walk & Mile of Memories Memorial Walk is an annual event that helps to raise awareness and support in the movement to defeat lung cancer. All proceeds benefit the Lung Cancer Research Council’s programs for public awareness and understanding about lung cancer and to promote screening and early detection in order to save lives, right here in Southwest Florida!  We look forward to seeing you next November.

Next Year’s Event Day Schedule

November 5, 2015
6:00 – 7:30 a.m. – Registration & check-in
7:45 a.m. – Warm-up
8:15 a.m. – 5K run/walk
8:30 a.m. – 1-Mile ‘Mile of Memories’ Walk
9:30 a.m. – Rally & awards presentation


You can ask friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to join you for Lung Cancer Research Council 5K Run/Walk & Mile of Memories Memorial Walk and form your own team! First – give your team a name and let everyone know what it is! Then, have each team member sign themselves up using the above button. Registrants will be asked on the registration form if they are part of a team and to provide the team name.

Fundraising Competition

The top three individual fundraisers and top three fundraising teams (based on totals as of 5 PM on Nov. 5, 2015) will be acknowledged on event day.

However the competition doesn’t end then! 

Teams can continue to gather donations through the end of the year. The competition closes Dec. 31st, 2015 at midnight. The winner will be notified and announced on this website. The winning team captain receives a trophy.

Ask your family, friends, and neighbors to donate to Lung Cancer Research Council, Inc. On the donation form, donors will be asked to whom the donation is affiliated.

Non-Competitive Run / Walk

Participants who are out for the fun of the day and who wish to run or walk the 5K course are, of course, welcome! Medals will be presented to all participating lung cancer survivors!

Timed Running/Race-walking Competition

Endurance Sports will time and monitor participants that wish to compete. A race bib and timing chip will be given to each runner / racewalker. Be sure to check in early on Saturday to receive your bib and chip!

Medals: will be awarded to the top 3 male and female runners in the following age groups: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+. Your age on Event day determines your age group.

Top Finisher Awards for each of the following categories, 1 male & 1 female will be awarded a Top Finisher Award: Youth 14 and under, Overall, Masters, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters and Veteran Masters.

Course Description

The 5K course will begin in front of the Charlotte Sports Park Stadium and follow a scenic route around the park and on roads through undeveloped areas of Charlotte County. All courses end inside the stadium. Please remember to dress for the weather, including possibly sunscreen and bug spray. (See foul weather information)
